A caring team at Doncaster Animal Clinic in Thornhill saves Indy, the 2 year old Labrador Retriever.

Posted in Pet Stories

Thanks to a team of caring veterinarians and staff at Doncaster Animal Clinic in Thornhill, Indy's parents didn't have to say goodbye to their puppy at only 2 years old.

  • We could tell right away that Indy's owners had been through so much and were panicked over the thought of losing their beloved puppy. All we could do was jump into action and help the couple feel comfortable that Indy was in good hands.

Indy almost lost his life at only age 2.

Indy had a 5 day history of lethargy, inappetance, vomiting and diarrhea. Indy’s parents are a young couple who had brought Indy to their regular vet for some symptomatic treatment on day 2 of Indy being sick.

After no improvement Indy started to progress with his ailment and was unable to keep anything down including water.

On day 5, their regular vet performed radiographs and bloodwork which confirmed that Indy had a foreign body. Indy was referred to the local emergency clinic for surgery.

While in the emergency clinic Indy’s parents did not feel as though the on-call veterinarian was open to answering their questions or very sympathetic to their situation. Admittedly Indy’s parents had many questions about the surgery and the cost but they felt as though the veterinarian was making a judgment on them that they didn’t care enough about Indy because they wanted to discuss the cost of the surgery. As a result of this poor experience Indy’s parents struggled to commit to the surgery at the emergency clinic and a close friend advised them to go to their local animal clinic in nearby Thornhill.

The veterinarian and team at Doncaster Animal Clinic were extremely thorough and attentive to the needs of Indy and his parents. They were comfortable agreeing to the costs and the surgery was performed, successfully removing part of a rope!

Indy recovered well and is at home doing fantastic. His parents were so thrilled and thankful as they couldn’t imagine saying goodbye to him at the age of 2.
